PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The project objectives are to:
- Design and develop the training plan and material for the development of skills in virtual technologies based on skills demand for such innovative technologies in the architecture, art, and design market
- Design and develop an innovative learning platform to facilitate the practical training process of students in virtual technologies
- Increase awareness of HE teaching staff and students regarding skills in virtual technologies
INTELLECTUAL OUTPUTS
IO1. Training course for skills development in virtual technologies for teachers
COVID pandemic has been an unprecedented situation in the education sector. The closure of schools due to the advance of the pandemic and the change from face-to-face training to distance training; no time to adapt to change; it has forced teachers to train as they go along; and it has transferred the weight of adapting their curricula on the fly and with the tools that they have been finding. The change to distance training has highlighted the training needs of teachers in terms of digital skills and training tools; and in particular in the authoring of training materials through virtual reality tools. Teachers from architecture or fine arts are finding trouble in explaining concepts linked to design of spaces or sculpting techniques via traditional distance learning; in this sense, VR skills will help them to create specific training materials to explain complex concepts and to engage students in creating their own projects. IO1 will develop an online course for skills development in distance learning and in virtual reality technologies for teachers. The course will be focused on immersive technologies for teachers of architecture and fine arts. The training curriculum will be created using DigCompEdu in order to follow a common European framework for the development of digital training plans for the educational sector and to impulse the adoption of common frameworks for the development of digital skills for teachers.
IO2. Development of an e-learning platform for immersive skills and VR-add-on tool
IO2 will develop an e-learning platform that will host the contents of the course curriculum realized under O1. The online platform will be developed in a user friendly, and a style adapted for e-learning and the management of the platform virtualization of course content in collaboration with the university experts who elaborated the curriculum for the respective modules. The platform will have a VR-add-on tool, and at least 20 hours of online training. Teachers will receive a diploma of completion once they see all training content and pass the self- evaluation activities. The course will have a B2 level from DigCompEdu framework.
